Das Deutschlandticket kostet den Staat aktuell etwa 3 Millarden Euro.

Das Dienstwagenprivileg kostet den deutschen Staat jährlich zwischen 3,5 und 6 Milliarden Euro.

Die niedrige Besteuerung von Diesel kostet jährlich ca. 7 Milliarden Euro

Ich sehe das Problem nicht. Beides sind Klimaschädliche Subventionen und beide könnten jeweils alleine bereits problemlos das DE Ticket finanzieren 🤷🏻‍♂️

Und dann wären da noch die Pendlerpauschale für Autofahrer, die zu geringen Kosten für das parken am Straßenrand, das fehlen von Kerosinsteuer, mögliche KFZ Maut…

Es gäbe so viele Möglichkeiten, die Kosten des DE Ticket doppelt und dreifach einzusparen, wenn man aufhört, die Planeten-Überhitzung zu subventionieren.

Aber wir diskutieren ja lieber jedes Jahr erneut, ob das Deutschlandticket bleibt…

Es muss mehr Geld in die Bahn fließen und das wären low-hanging-fruits!

Früher war mein Leben autozentriert: tägliches Pendeln (2×25 Min) und 80–100 Tsd km/Jahr als IT-Berater.

Dann kam Covid – Homeoffice statt Autofahrten, kaum Geschäftsreisen. Die gewonnene Zeit und Flexibilität machten mich produktiver.

2023 habe ich gekündigt und bei Red Hat angefangen. Seitdem fahre ich fast nur noch Zug – und liebe es.

Im Auto muss man auf die Straße schauen, im Zug kann man arbeiten, lesen, schlafen, essen oder einfach die Welt vorbeiziehen lassen. Statt verlorener Zeit ist es nutzbare Zeit. Zurück ins alte Leben will ich nie wieder.

2. Tegernseer Helles Alkoholfrei (extrem leckeres helles. Mittlere süße, kein Nachgeschmack)

3. Spaten Helles Alkoholfrei (etwas süßer als Tegernseer. Aber sehr lecker und leichtgängig)

4. Franziskaner Weißbier Alkoholfrei (sehr gutes Weißbier, gerade eiskalt im Sommer ein Genuss)

5. Störtebecker Atlantik Ale Alkoholfrei (sehr einzigartiger Geschmack. Lecker, sehr herb und kantig, guter Durstlöscher an heißen Tagen)

Honorable mention: Paulaner Münchner Helles Alkoholfrei (Gutes Helles, wenn auch schlechter als die vorher genannten. Aber gute Supermarkt Verfügbarkeit. Relativ herb und tolle Aromen)

In der Schweiz gibt es die Swisscom, das ist sowas wie die Telekom in Deutschland.
Um mit ihren Kunden zu kommunizieren bekommt jeder Swisscom Kunde eine E-Mail Adresse @bluewin.CH .
Nun nutzen manche Kunden das als ihre haubt Adresse .

Wenn Kunden dazu noch outlook verwende, kommt es zu Problemen. Die emails werden nicht immer synchronisiert, können nicht gesendet werden u.s.w.
Um das zu anderen kam man eine mail Weiterleitung einrichten und die neue mail zum outlook hinzufügen.
Die Leute haben sich eine hotmail Adresse gewünscht, damit die in outlook integriert werden kann will Windows einen "pin" vom mail Benutzer. Die bekommt man wen man sich mit der mail am PC anmeldet und diese dann einrichtet. Der process versendet Verifizierung codes an tele , mail, alternativ mail. der Kunde die alten emails mit der neuen Adresse beantworten, was nicht geht. Wen man den Absender ändert öffnet outlook ein neues Fenster in dem der bisherige mail Verkehr (und kontakte )fehlt Kontakte

Als nächstes zum Swisscom die E-Mail Weiterleitung zu aktivieren. Nach dem login (SMS code) und dem klicken auf die Option mochte die Plattform das der user sich mit dem Ausweis verifiziert. Handy raus scannen,scannen,selfi, code fertig. Die weitergeleiteten Mails kommen im auf der neuen Adresse im outlook an und können sogar beantwortet werden. Aufwand: über eine stunde

I wrote an Ansible connection-plugin to automate FreeBSD Jails via their host, by utilizing jls and jexec to run automation via a SSH connection to the FreeBSD host.

This enables seamless automation of FreeBSD jails without needing a SSH connection to the Jails themselves.

In the past, I had a pretty car-centric life. I commuted to work by car (2x 25 minutes per day) and, for my work as an IT consultant, I drove around 80,000-100,000 kilometers per year.

Then the pandemic came, and everything changed. I started working remotely, and business travel decreased to a minimum. I quickly got used to the additional free time and flexibility, and it made me substantially more productive.

In 2023, I quit my old job and got hired at Red Hat. Since then, I do almost all of my business travel by train, and I genuinely enjoy it.

The difference is profound. In a car, you need to be focused on the road. On a train, you can live—you can work, take a nap, eat something at the bistro, or just watch the world go by. In contrast to driving, it's not lost time; it's usable time.

I never, ever want to go back and am glad that my life nowadays is so much better without being dependent on a car.

Started building my entire infrastructure monitoring solution from scratch!

- Powered by FreeBSD!
- Using Jails and seperation of duty:
- One Jail running Grafana and Prometheus
- One Jail running Netbird Wireguard to connect my infra securely
- One Jail running Nginx and Certbot

All ZFS based for backup / snapshots and rollback options.

Routed and NAT'ed via a seperate dedicated pf jail.

All working fine, I get first metrics and can start slowly improve from here.

Todo:
- Alerts via AlertManager
- Log-Ingestion via promtail
- Log analysis with Grafana Loki
- Adding remaining servers via WireGuard Mesh VPN
- Adding another Jail for Uptime-Kuma

- Full IPv6 support on all networks

- Firewall (via pf) and NAT for Legacy-IP

- PCI Passthrough of one NIC to a Behyve VM (with IOMMU/vt-d)

FreeBSD is just a network beast 🙂

Magaged to get fully-automated deployment of FreeBSD VMs on Proxmox VE with cloud-init and static-ip configuration working after quite some troubleshooting.

- hostname, network config, ssh key, local user is all passed to the VM via cloud-init.

- Entire deployment of a FreeBSD VM takes less than 2 minutes until I can SSH in 🙂

- Chats on IRC (chat without bullshit)
- Simple websites that were about content and passion instead of monetarization, tracking and advertisement.

Meanwhile the modern net in 2025:
- Ads and intrusive tracking omnipresent
- Centralization, platform economy, gate keeping and entshittificatiion.
- Overregulation and legal pitfalls everywhere.

The Fediverse is a step into the right direction: Open protocol, decentralized and community driven, in a time where huge parts of the net are simply driven by corporate greed and governments that want to regulate everything.

1st: Pair keyboard normally within the OS

2nd: add /etc/dracut.conf.d/bluetooth.conf :

Now running on latest Debain Linux 13 with Linux kernel 6.12.

For that little hardware footprint, it's quite performance, reliable and fast (with over 100 active users).

Just the media files are offloaded to S3 storage at our provider.

Did it in a peer-programming style with the friendly 🤖 Claude. That worked rather well, especially for the documentation, restructuring and analyzing/solving issues together.

It wasn't without it's problems but the speeup was crazy. It would have easily taken me double the time, if not more, to do this alone.

The Ansible code in the end was absolutely amazing. Robust, idempotent, error tolerant and well structured. With proper guidance, AI can be a great speed multiplier.

I just registered a new domain, to replace my container infrastructure domain with an European one (@Linux@mstdn.ca inspired me for this!).

I went with kiste.nl (Dutch word for crate).

Only has 5 characters and allows for so many puns and nice word-plays in sub-domains:

- Logistics/shipping: cargo, freight, manifest, shipment, delivery, express, priority

- Materials: wooden, steel, plastic, cardboard, aluminum, composite

- Sizes: small, large, jumbo, mini, bulk, heavy

- States: sealed, open, locked, stacked, packed, labeled

- Types: export, import, hazmat, fragile, secure

fragile.kiste.nl for a test environment (handle with care!) or hazmat.kiste.nl for something that needs extra isolation etc :-)

Finally did activate the NXP SE050 Secure Element in my Nitrokey 3 and generated new on-device keys, by using the amazing "oct" (openpgp-card-tools).

Almost entirely using the modern rust-based openpgp implementations now:

- oct for card management and file signing
- openpgp-card-ssh-agent for SSH authentication
- rsop-oct for file encryption/decryption and package signing
- oct-git for git signing of my code commits

The only part, where I still rely on classic openpgp, is my MUA KMail, where alternatives aren't yet supported.

And it's still a pain, that modern GPG implementations aren't available as Fedora packages *sigh* but cargo works sufficiently well for now.
